For nearly 20 years, Thornager’s and Karen Sorensen have been synonymous with great food and entertaining in Flagstaff. The company began as a deli in 1988, and Karen steadily grew the business into a full-service restaurant and catering operation, all the while dreaming of a special events venue altogether different than the hotels in town could offer.

In 2002, she fulfilled that dream with the purchase of a banquet and clubhouse in scenic, wooded Equestrian Estates. Thornager’s on Kiltie Lane is a secluded, yet readily accessible charming setting for weddings, banquets, and special events of all kinds.

One of Karen’s passions is the continued improvement of the facilities into an ever more beautiful and welcoming place. And she has assembled an extensive, experienced staff to support a wide range of client requests. From artistic food creations, tabletops with flare, bartending with liquor and wine ordering – Karen and her staff makes your event memorable.

Thornager’s continues to provide off-premise catering. And, for a completely different kind of delicious, Karen also has operated a quick, casual-service catering company, BBQ to You, since 2001.

Karen’s professional background is in foods and nutrition, and she maintains up-to-date knowledge of industry standards by attending continuing education classes and through affiliation with CaterSource and other professional groups.

During her personal time, one of Karen’s greatest enjoyments is walking in the forest with her Corgis, Lucy and Ricky.
